Histori
Construction began in 1927, and completed the following year at a cost of US $ 300,000. Similar to the Hollywood premiere, February opening gala includes Wallace Beery, Marion Davies, Janet Gaynor, Carole Lombard, Gilbert Roland, and Norma Shearer. The Inn was the inspiration for the song Rodgers and Hart in 1936, There's a Small Hotel . But the original hope of being the inspiration for this song was shattered in the 1950s renovation. A $ 225,000 renovation took place after the purchase of property in 1956 by Avery Brundage. Renovations include adding parking and park facilities. Although he sold the inn in 1960, he took it back the following year before selling it again in 1970 for a price over $ 400,000. In 2003, the hotel underwent another interior renovation characterized by Mediterranean style.
In 1938, the inn can accommodate 100 guests, with prices ranging from US $ 2.50 for singles. In 1988, there were reported 53 rooms; there were 60 rooms in 2004.
The inn was damaged by the floods of 2018 Southern California.

Architecture and supplies
The Inn is a three-storey Mediterranean-style hotel with red tiled roofs, whitewashed walls and "abundant flower boxes". Many rooms contain French provincial furniture; the bathroom is made of Italian marble, which is repeated in the lobby. Chaplin's favorite room is the popular Tower Suite today with honeymooners. Richard Rogers wrote of a hotel in 1936, "A small hotel, a place like that where one of Chandler's licentious heirs might easily hang his Lily Dache hat." The hotel has a small fitness room, an outdoor pool and spa, and a wood checker desk in the hallway. The Montecito Cafe, which serves California Nouveau cuisine, is in a hoped-for location.
There are many pictures of Chaplin throughout the hotel. These include the movie poster and Chaplin glass painting. The hotel has a Charlie Chaplin movie library. With a 2003 renovation, photos of Santa Barbara are added.
