Red Roof Inn is an economic hotel chain in the United States. The Red Roof Inn property is distinguished by the huge dark red shingle roof which gives them their name. Red Roof has more than 500 properties in the United States, especially in the Midwest, Southern, and Eastern United States. The Red Roof Inn is a pet friendly hotel chain.

Histori
The Red Roof Inn chain starts in Columbus, Ohio. The company was founded by Jordan Crowe in 1973 with a view to providing clean and comfortable rooms at affordable prices. The oldest hotel (Inn # 3) still operates as a Red Roof Inn located on East Cork Street in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Built in 1972 and last renovated in 2004.
The original slogan is "Sleep Cheap". Jordan sells T-shirts on the property with this slogan, and they become popular. With price increases due to inflation in 2005 and 2006, the price of the chain, while still lower than most of its direct competitors such as Budgetel (now Baymont) and Days Inn, is too high to be cheap. Thus, the slogan is changed to "Hit The Roof."
In the late 1990s, actor Martin Mull starred in a series of television and radio ads for the Red Roof Inn.
AccorHotels acquired Red Roof Inns in 1999 with $ 1.115 billion, adding 324 properties and 37,208 rooms.
In April 2007, Accor announced the sale of Red Roof Inns to Citigroup Global Special Situations Group and Westbridge Hospitality Fund LP for $ 1.3 billion. As part of the sale, some locations will be part of North America's flagship brands, Motel 6, and Accor that plan to focus exclusively on the brand of North American market budget accommodation market after the sale is complete.
In 2018, Red Roof announced the launch of their first soft brand, The Red Collection (TM), a new portfolio of mid-scale, hyper-local and unique hotels located in the city center favored by travelers. The hotels offer upscale options at a value that travelers value. The first two hotels in The Red Collection (TM) are The St. The Clair Hotel (TM) in Chicago, IL, is planned to open in October 2018, and the State House Inn (TM) in Springfield, IL. With this launch, the company has changed their logo back to the Red Roof, the main brand, to signify the brand family.

International Expansion
In 2015, Red Roof expanded to Canada and Brazil, signing an agreement with developer Pacrim Hospitality Services, Inc. to develop Canadian property, and Nobile Hoteis will develop lodging throughout Brazil. There is no Red Roof Inns currently operating in Canada under the Red Roof Inn banner.
The hotel chain opens its first location in Brazil by 2015, with plans to add 35-40 for 25 years.
The Floral Inn underwent a $ 14.5 Million dollar renovation in 2016 and opened as a 224 Red Roof Inn Plus Namba room in Osaka in Japan.
NextGen Design
In 2012, Red Roof completed a $ 200 million renovation and upgrade to national hotels.
Red Roof PLUS
Red Roof launches its Red Roof Plus (Red Roof PLUS ") brand extension in early 2014. Red Roof Plus includes new room types, red canopies in select properties, enhanced LED lighting and outside signage.
