Histori

Tony Pike arrived at Hull in 1978. Yachtsman and former Pike hat maker led a very colorful life, who had seen him stranded in the Caribbean, wounded in a bobsleigh accident, serving in the military, enjoying liquor, and getting married and divorced. three times. Pike had rented finca for three months during which time he met Lyn's next partner. Together they bought a stray finca Ca'n Pep Toniet in the countryside east of Sant Antoni and they decided to renovate the hotel. Tony, along with Lyn and his two sons, did most of the work on its own. Bo Palk, managing director of MGM Studios, checked into the hotel just as Pike was finishing the hotel's last bathroom. An acquaintance of Palk's, Simon Napier-Bell, visited him at the hotel while looking for the location of the video shoot. As a result, Wham! "Club Tropicana" was shot at the hotel in 1983. The video was directed by Duncan Gibbins with scenes taken by George Michael, lead singer of the band and fellow band member Andrew Ridgeley and their support of singers Dee C. Lee and Shirlie Holliman. The scenario saw George Michael "hovering over lilo in Speedo and nuances", relaxing with the kids with Pike pool sipping cocktails. The trumpet-play scene takes place in the pool itself. Tony Pike is good friends with the band and he is convinced to take a small part in the video as a bartender in one of the scenes. Video success and Wham status! At the time of placing Pike's Hotel in the music industry circle and within a short time this hotel attracted stars and other people connected to the industry.

In the 1980s, the authorities in Ibiza grew very concerned about the wild party and drug use taking place in the hotel. They showed special attention to the extensive use of cocaine at the hotel. Julio Iglesias, Pike's close friend, confronted the police chief, invited him and his wife to dinner at the hotel, and since the matter with the law has been dropped. In 1987, Freddie Mercury celebrated his 41st birthday at Pikes, a few months after learning that he had AIDS. Mercury is looking for much comfort at the retreat, and is Pike's close friend. The party held on September 5, 1987, has been described as "the most extraordinary example of the excess of the Mediterranean island ever seen", and "the most luxuriant party Pike ever threw." It has been called a legendary party, with a list of celebrity guests from around 500 people and up to 700 people in total including Julio Iglesias, Grace Jones, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue, Nigel Benn, Anthony Quinn, Bon Jovi, Boy George, Five Star, Tony Curtis, Robert Plant, Naomi Campbell, and Spandau Ballet. An important feature of the party was the thousands of gold and black helium balloons that reportedly took three days to inflate, and a large fireworks show at the end was reportedly seen in Majorca. 350 bottles Moet & amp; Chandon champagne, and Gaudi's Sagrada Familia Cathedral-shaped cake were provided for the party, though the original cake collapsed and replaced with a 2-meter sponge with a note from Mercury's "Barcelona" song. The bill, which included 232 pieces of glass, was handed over to Queen's manager, Jim Beach.

In the 1990s the hotel began to lose its reputation and its slow popularity decline began that would culminate in the tragedy for Tony Pike. In 1998, Pike had put the hotel up for sale. The deal was made for a sale that turned out to be a scam and Pike cheated from £ 50,000. His son, Anthony Dale Pike, flies to Miami to settle the situation for his father. However, he was killed on the same day upon his arrival on February 15, 1998, shot twice in the head and dumped in a remote forest in Virginia Key Beach. Police detective Miami Dade believes that he was killed by people who planned to seize control of the hotel. Police arrested and questioned German tennis expert Thomas Heinz Knott for the killing, but the investigation led them to sue Italian TV producer Enrico Forti with a fraud over a £ 50,000 transfer from Anthony's father. In June 2000, Forti was also convicted of killing Anthony Dale Pike in Miami. Forti is now serving a life sentence in Everglades Correctional Institution in Florida.

Pike estimated that the hotel was worth $ 5 million (£ 3.2 million) in 2002. He then sold it to Ibiza Rocks in 2008. At the time of sale, The Mail on Sunday said of Pike, "Bending and shrinking, his face looks like a stale Easter Island statue and as he walks he stumbles shakily, bowed by excessive life Pike's power fades." Sky Living TV's 2008 documentary also shows him and the hotel in a light that not profitable, and seems to live in the past.

In summer 2011, Pikes Hotel was re-launched as Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes Hotel. The hotel has been restored under the ownership of Andy McKay and Dawn Hindle, a partnership behind Ibiza Rocks, Ibiza Rocks Hotel and Mallorca Rocks, with a new cast dÃÆ'®, while trying to maintain its most glamorous rock'n'roll image of the year. The new owner has made Tony Pike the first full-time resident at the hotel and he lives permanently in Room 25. Ibiza Rocks publishes hotels and links as "After sex and drugs, come rock and roll". Scottish band Biffy Clyro and Kylie Minogue stay at the hotel during the Ibiza Rocks Festival in 2011. This hotel has long been a favorite of Minogue in Ibiza since the 1980s.
