Histori
The start of the new hotel begins with Delta Chelsea negotiations in 2012. On December 19, 2012, the owner of Delta Chelsea, Great Eagle Holdings Ltd., announced that it will terminate its management agreement with Delta Hotel on 1 July 2013, and put the property under the control of its own subsidiary , Langham Hospitality Group.
It was reported that the Great Eagle will not do the renovation that Delta is trying to improve the facilities. Shortly after the disaffiliation of Delta Chelsea, Delta began planning for a new hotel in an area known as the South Core and connected to the PATH network.
The new 524 foot (160 m) tower on Lower Simcoe Street was designed by Page and Steele/IBI Group Architects. Unlike the previous location, the new location fulfills the chain's desire to become an upscale premium hotel. 567 Delta Toronto rooms are newly used for hotel guests only, no condo units, but extended-stay units for long-term guests.
