The Commons is an open 420 SF shopping center located on the Retail Commons Parkway at the intersection of Exit 12 on Interstate 81 and Route 45 in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

History
The initial plan for The Commons was submitted to the Berkeley District Planning Commission in February 2007. The initial plan called for tenants SF 102,231 to be next to Target. Reported by The Journal on February 12, 2008, that the main tenant has withdrawn from the project. The unnamed main renter was later replaced with Dick's Sporting Goods (50,000 SF) and a range of others, ranging from 1,000 to 15,000 SF.
Construction began at The Commons shopping center in May 2008. The 45 acre (180,000 m 2 ) site was developed and managed by AIG Baker, LLC. The first store (Bed Bath and Beyond) opened in early July 2009 with 8 other opening anchors in the next 45 days. Staples is the only major anchor that has no opening in 2009.
Bed Bath & amp; The Beyond Shop at The Commons is the third in West Virginia.
In December 2012, an American Automobile Association office moved to the center of downtown. A hotel is scheduled to be added in 2013.
