Challenge: Champions Invasion (originally promoted and titled as Challenge: Invasion ) is the 29th season of the event the MTV reality game, The Challenge . New individual formats were filmed in Krabi, Thailand during October and November 2016, and featured alumni from Real World , Road Rules , The Challenge , and Are You the One? compete.
The season premiere on February 7, 2017, and ends with a special reunion on May 16, 2017.

Format
The game starts with 18 Underdogs who are unloaded from ships and to shore, where they live in "The Shelter." They compete individually in the challenge, followed by the preliminary round. The winners of men and women of challenge will be safe from elimination, and get their tickets to "The Oasis" - the season home. The last occupant of each sex automatically goes directly to elimination for the first challenge.
In the second challenge, the challenge winners will choose the opposite sex player to go into elimination. The rest of the players then choose who is against them for the first and second challenges. Men choose women, and vice versa.
In the third challenge, and the last chance to get tickets to the Oasis, the winners will be safe from elimination, and the two remaining players of each sex will automatically compete with each other. In elimination, each sex will compete. The winner of the preliminary round will return to the game, and earn a ticket to The Oasis. The losers of the preliminary round go home. Players can not enter The Oasis until every ticket has been obtained. Players who get their tickets to the Oasis will be relieved of elimination and will not compete in the challenge until Champions enter the gnome.
For the last challenge both teams will now be separated and players will compete as individuals. Players will pair up with different players during different stages of the final and their final placement will be determined on their last time. In addition to their share of what is in their team's bank account, the first player will receive $ 100,000 each, the second will receive $ 15,000 each, and the third will receive $ 5,000 each. Players were also told that they would sleep at The Shelter during the final challenge.
- Stage 1: The couple must swim from the sand bar to the island and solve the triangle puzzle to retrieve the key. They then had to use the paddleboard to swim back to the barge to unlock other puzzles. Once the puzzle on the barge has been solved, the couple's time will be stopped.
- Time Buster # 1: The couple will try to extract as much water as possible from the coconut pile and store it in their team container. At the end of the hour, whoever takes the most water out of their coconut will win and set a five-minute penalty to another player.
- Stage 2: The player will divide into a new pair and race more than a mile into the forest to complete a series of checkpoints. After the pair finishes, they will race back to TJ to stop their time. Tasks include solving puzzles, eating disgusting dishes, and walking along a rope.
- Time Buster # 2: The couple must string the Thai prayer beads onto the wire coils for an undisclosed time. Any pair that has the longest string marked by TJ's return time will be able to add a five-minute penalty to another player.
- Stage 3: The player will divide into a new pair and must follow a series of checks that lead to kayak 10 miles. After the couple paddles their kayak to the barge, their time will be stopped.
- Stage 4: Players will now compete individually and hold onto a suspended bar from the speedboat until they reach the buoy. Upon reaching the float player must swim as fast as they can to the finish line where each time will be stopped. Players who fall from the bar before reaching the buoy should swim the remaining distance. On the beach TJ will announce the final result.
