History
69 properties have been opened since the launch of Hotel Indigo, and another 64 are currently in the pipeline. The first Indigo Hotel opened in Atlanta, Georgia in October 2004, the second location opened in the historic Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois in May 2005, and another Chicago location location - Palatine, Illinois - opened in November 2005 (which in 2011 has become Hotel Bollero and no longer affiliated with any hotel chain). The first international property of this brand debuted in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Each Hotel Indigo property is designed to reflect the culture, character, and history of the surrounding environment. Many of them are in altered buildings. For example, at the Indigo Hotel at 171 Ludlow Street on the Lower East Side of NYC, is the location of the famous underground music concert, Luna Lounge, where artists like Elliot Smith, The Strokes, Jim Thurwell and Lotion are performed. Luna Lounge is also home to a highly successful night of comedy called "Makan Ini" which hosts comedians like Marc Maron, Janeane Garofolo, and Louis CK.
