The 7 arrondissement of Paris ( VII e arrondissement ) is one of 20 arrondissements of the French capital. In spoken French, this arrondissement is referred to as septiÃÆ'¨me .
The arrondissement, called the Palais-Bourbon, includes some of Paris's main and famous sights, such as the Eiffel Tower and the HÃÆ'Â'tel des Invalides (Napoleon's resting place), and world-renowned museum concentration such as MusÃÆ'Â Â d'Orsay, MusÃÆ' Â © e Rodin, and MusÃÆ' Â © e du quai Branly.
Located on the Rive Gauche - the "Left" edge of the Seine River - this central terrain, which includes the historical aristocratic environment of Faubourg Saint-Germain, contains a number of French national institutions, among them the French National Assembly and a number of government ministries. It is also home to many foreign diplomatic embassies, some of them occupying the extraordinary HÃÆ'Â'tels particulate.
The arrondissement has been home to the French upper class since the 17th century, when it became the new home of the highest French nobility. This district is so popular in the French aristocracy that the phrase le Faubourg - referring to the ancient name of the current 7th arrondissement - has been used to describe French nobility ever since. The 7th arrondissement of Paris and Neuilly-sur-Seine formed the most prosperous and most prestigious residential area in France.

History
During the 17th century, French nobility began to move from the center of the Marais, the noble district of Paris where nobles were used to build their urban mansions (see Hotel de Soubise), to a more obvious, less populated and less polluted Faubourg Saint - Germain.
This district became very popular among French aristocracies so the phrase le Faubourg has been used to describe French nobility ever since. The oldest and most prestigious family of French nobility built a remarkable residence in the area, such as HÃÆ'Â'tel Matignon, HÃÆ'Â'tel de Salm, and HÃÆ'Â'tel Biron.
After the Revolution, many of these luxury homes, which offer magnificent inner spaces, many beautiful reception rooms and decorations, are confiscated and converted into national institutions. The French expression "les ors de la Republique" (literally "the golds of the Republic") refers to the luxurious environment of the national palace (outstanding official residence and priceless) artwork), dating from that time.
During the Restauration, Faubourg restored its former glory as Paris's most exclusive aristocratic district and is the country's political heart, home to the Ultra Party. After the Fall of Charles X, the district lost most of its political influence but remained at the center of France's upscale social life.
During the 19th century, the arrondissement held no fewer than five Universal Exhibitions (1855, 1867, 1878, 1889, 1900) that had had a profound impact on the city's landscape. The Eiffel Tower and the Orsay building have been built for this Exhibition (respectively in 1889 and 1900).
