Event format
The contestants in every season of The Big Break include professionals in mini-tours and amateurs who aspire to play golf professionally.
Contestants engage in a series of golfing challenges, with the weakest players eliminated after every challenge. At the end of the competition, the winners receive prizes including one or more exceptions to a top professional golf tournament.

Show challenges
The glass breaking challenge
The challenge signature show involves breaking glass players, each containing the contestant's name (in the NASCAR Break All-Star Break Edition Challenge , it's converted to the back name of the contestant at the top and the stylish car number dominates the panel). This challenge typically occurs in the inaugural episodes of each edition, although in The Big Break II , it occurs in the second episode, used in this case as "Mulligan Challenge" (described below).
The rules of the glass breaking challenge change from The Big Break I to The Big Break II . In the Big Break I, ten players aim at their own glass, and they all stand on the driving range, and fired at once. The first to break the glass is the winner.
In The Big Break II and The Big Break III: Ladies Only, and The Big Break All-Star Challenge, the players take turns, and must calling whose glass they want to break up. If successful, players whose broken glass panels are removed for the rest of the challenge, and the last player whose glass panel remains unbroken is the winner. In "The Big Break II", tension arises when "Team Bald" goes after Don Donello. Sean Daly (winning the glass break competition), Shelby Chrest, and John Turke are the ones responsible for eliminating Don. In The Big Break III: Ladies Only, the challenge winners get first choice of the room where they will stay during their tenure at the event (this is also explained below).
In The Big Break IV: United States vs. Europe , the format is tweaked again. The challenge becomes a relay. The first team to have all six of its members break their own winning glass. For this edition, the challenge was used as the Mulligan Challenge.
To The Big Break V: Hawaii , the challenge is returned to the dialed out format, but with one round: when a player breaks another's glass, they will continue firing until they miss.
Mulligan Challenge
The "Mulligan Challenge" is the first challenge to be contested in every single hour episode, though on The Big Break II, it is the second contested challenge.
The "Mulligan Challenge" of the past ranges from shooting a golf ball into a large bucket that is put on a pickup truck as the truck moves back and forth to hit the ball past a hole in the giant plywood wall for points. The holes range in size depending on the total point, with the largest hole is worth a point, and the smallest is five points. Individuals who win or teams in the "Mulligan Challenge" are awarded a mulligan for use in the "Skills Challenge".
The Mulligan Challenge is quite rare in The Big Break V: Hawaii .
Skills Challenge (aka "Immune Challenge")
The "Skills Challenge" is the second contested challenge in every one hour episode, albeit on The Big Break II , it is the first challenge to be contested. The Big Break II is also the place where "Skills Challenge" was first used.
Past "Skill Challenges" have ranged from players who hit the drive for points to players who try to score points by hitting the ball into three big squares, the largest being 5 points, a medium-sized box worth 10 points, and the smallest box worth 20 points. Another "Skill Challenge" involving players plays a game called "B-R-E-A-K", similar to the "H-O-R-S-E" basketball game. The "Skill Challenge" usually takes place in laps, and the winners (or winners) of "Mulligan Challenge" can use their mulligan at any point in the challenge if they make a mistake. The winners of the "Skill Challenge" are given immunity from the "Elimination Challenge."
In The Big Break IV: US vs. Europe , The Immune Challenge (as it is known during the show), is a team event. The team that won the Immunity Challenge will keep all its members away from elimination.
Challenge deletion
Each Big Break takes place in a tournament-style form, as one player is omitted from the show every week until there are two players left. Thus, the final challenge of every one hour episode is "Challenge Elimination."
The winners of "Challenge Skills" are freed from the "Elimination Challenge," so they can watch without taking part. The players are not relieved of the "Elimination Challenge" participating in challenges such as hitting shots to green for points. The closer to the pin, the more points are given. The last completed contestant in the "Elimination Challenge" was removed from the show.
Players who were eliminated in the first three editions of the event were handled differently. In The Big Break I and The Big Break II , the eliminated player is immediately sent home. In The Big Break III: Ladies Only, the eliminated player is allowed to stay (some say required) with the remaining contestants until the event drops to the last two contestants, but in a different location than the one. the remaining players live in.
In The Big Break IV: US vs. Europe, the team that lost the Immune Challenge made all its members pit against each other to stay alive.
Final matches
The last two players left at The Big Break play against each other in the final match of the game, which takes place in the final two hours each season. The final winner takes the exception to the selected event in the tour, the events are approved by, as well as additional prizes.
Edition The Big Break
The Big Break I
The first Big Break I aired, as said in the introduction, on October 6, 2003. The contest was filmed for ten days at TreeTops Resort in Gaylord, Michigan. The winner will receive an exception to four selected events at the Canadian Tour in 2004 (all broadcasted by Golf Channel).
Ten candidates for the first season are:
The event is hosted by swing trainers Phil Mickelson, Rick Smith, and Katherine Roberts. In the end, Justin Peters beat Anthony Sorentino 3 & amp; 1 in the final match. Peters, though, failed to make the cut at any of the four Canadian Golf Club Tour events he played.
The Big Break II: Las Vegas
The Big Break II first aired in September 2004. The contest was filmed in Las Vegas. The winner will receive four exceptions to the National Tour event during the 2005 season.
The nine contestants are:
(In Order Elimination)
The Big Break II is the highest rated show on the Golf Channel in the history of all its programs. The show features not only good golf but also the tension between roommates Sean Daly and Donny Donatello.
The winner Kip Henley failed to cut in on the National Tour, and shortly after his attempt to play on the Tour, he returned to caddying on the PGA Tour for Brian Gay. Henley, who is 50 years old in 2011, qualifies for FedEx St. Jude Classic is through winning the Tennessee PGA Session event which includes automatic entry into the event, and is eligible for the Champions Tour.
Big Break III: Ladies Only
The Big Break III: Ladies Only first aired on February 8, 2005. The show was filmed in October 2004 at Kingsmill Resort and Spa outside Williamsburg, Virginia. The winners of this edition will receive exceptions into two LPGA events and an American Century Championship in 2005, not all broadcasted on Golf Channel. Also, a leading golf retailer, Golf Galaxy, offers $ 5,000 so that winning players can buy whatever they need for LPGA events, such as new clubs or other accessories. The first of the three tournaments is the ULTRA Open at Kingsmill, held at the golf resort where the show was filmed. The Michelob ULTRA Open is often referred to as the LPGA's "fifth major", as The Players Championship is for the PGA Tour.
Ten candidates for the third season are:
Vince Cellini and Stephanie Sparks, who briefly played on the LPGA Tour themselves, hosted the event. The final match is a star. Crikelair and Amiee face to face, with Crikelair up 2 after just three holes. Amiee came all the way back, and, at 1 in par 3 17, drowned a birdie for 2 rides, and grabbed the Big Break III title 2 & amp; 1. In addition to exceptions and a $ 5,000 gift card from Golf Galaxy, Amiee also won a new Chrysler Crossfire, which she gave to a friend who has helped her financially. Amiee also donated her Golf Galaxy certificate to charity for underprivileged children.
Also for the first time, professional golfers from the tour who shared exceptions made brilliant acting. In the first episode of the season in which a contestant is omitted (who, by the way, will end up being a Browner), LPGA winners Kelli Kuehne and Lorie Kane stop by to participate in the first "Mulligan Challenge" of the season.
Amiee's first tournament, Michelob ULTRA Open, did not go as far as trying to cut it. She has many fans following her. In the first round, Amiee shot 79 on a par-71 course. The second round was pushed back a day due to rain, where Amiee shot 77, missing the cut in her first LPGA event. Her second event, the Corning Classic, never materialized, as she retreated before the first round, with the reason of a back injury, to throw out her second release. However, it is believed that Amiee resigned due to media pressure over her allegedly bare photos circulating on the Internet. There is much discussion about the validity of the photos.
Meanwhile, Miller, who actually played on the LPGA Tour from 1979 to 1981, when he married former PGA Tour player Allen Miller (the couple is still married, and has three children), competed in the LPGA Championship, having earned a place with a win LPGA 2004 Teaching & amp; Club Professionals national championship. He shot 84 in the first half, and 88 in the second half, missing the cut.
That's when Dowling's turn to play in the LPGA show. He took part in Open Women BMO Canada, where he shot 77 in the first half, and 74 in the second half to take a 7-respect for the tournament, though he still misses cutting. Dowling won the Canadian Women's Amateur Championship in 2000, helping her get Canada's Best Female Amateur Award of the Year; he was also an individual champion of the Mid-America Conference in 1999 and 2000 when a student at Kent State University, and in his final year at Kent State in 2002, was awarded the Janet Bachna Award for Kent State Senior Women Athlete of the Year. While at Kent State, Dowling became friends with the winner of the 2003 Open Championship, Ben Curtis. Dowling said her golf hero is a great Canadian professional, Moe Norman, who died on September 4, 2004, more than a month before the show began.
Big Break All-Star Challenge
When The Big Break was first announced, many celebrities signed up for this performance other than pro candidates. The Golf Channel immediately made a celebrity edition of the show, which is for charity charity. On March 22, 2005, The Big Break All-Star Challenge debuted, featuring four members of the Boston Red Sox. Since then, there are more editions of the show, featuring NASCAR drivers, as well as Green Bay Packers, Chicago White Sox, Tampa Bay Lightning, Scrubs, and Hootie & amp; The Blowfish. There are many hosts of the All-Star edition, and no Cellini and Sparks have ever hosted a single episode. Other Channel Golf figures who have hosted the All-Star edition include Brian Hammons and Steve Sands, and several co-hosts have included former NASCAR star Benny Parsons and two-time champion Tour Champion Peter Jacobsen.
Jay Kossoff, senior producer of The Big Break, told The Charlotte Observer on the recording of the first NASCAR edition, "We have a lot of celebrities applying for the place in the original show, so we think it's is a good idea to do something like this - let's do the next step. "
The Big Break IV: US vs. Europe
Lihat artikel utama: The Big Break IV: AS vs. Eropa .
The Big Break IV was filmed in June 2005, and aired on September 13th of the same year. Twelve candidates (including The Big Break II contestant Bart Lower) were taken to Carnoustie Scotland, and the Old Course at St Andrews to compete for the exclusion of two European Tour events (Algarve Open de Portugal and Celtic Manor Wales Open ), a support deal with Bridgestone Golf, a two-year lease on Ford Explorer, and a $ 5,000 gift card from Dick's Sporting Goods. The Golf Channel makes this a competition between players from the United States and Europe, such as the Ryder Cup. Cellini and Sparks return as hosts.
Team USA
European Team
Lower is the first contestant omitted, surprisingly, given the fact that he finished third on The Big Break II. Gillot, who won the Challenge Tour event in 2000, is next, followed by Carnell, then Gardino. The elimination of USA-Europe elimination continues with Gainey getting his boots. Eventually stop with Hunt eliminated in a two-part episode (Immunity Challenge takes an entire hour, while Elimination takes the other). With only two members left, the USA Team was given two episodes off so the European team could be trimmed into the last two. In this first episode, former Amyur Championship Bladon winner came out, with Wilde following the following week. The latter two are specified in the double elimination episode, in which Woodman defeats Blankvoort and Holtby ruffles Valentine in a separate 9-hole challenge match. Holtby went on to beat Woodman in the final final game, 1 Up. Unlike the previous editions, all the contestants were eliminated live, followed the game and even took group photos with the winners.
In the Algarve Open, Holtby fired a 1-over shot for two rounds, losing one shot with a single shot.
Tommy Gainey completed high enough in December 2007, the PGA Tour 'Q-School' to become a PGA member for 2008, and in October 2012 won the McGladrey Classic in Georgia for his first PGA Tour victory.
Each team has one member with a claim of fame. European team player Wilde is the son of British singer Marty Wilde and brother of Kim Wilde, who sang the 1981 hit, "Kids in America." USA Valentine team member is the son of former professional bowler Jeffrey Valentine. Another European team member, Gardino, has conspired in two Ryder Cups (1999 and 2002), carrying bags for players such as Sergio GarcÃÆ'a, Miguel ÃÆ' ngel JimÃÆ'à © nez, and JosÃÆ'à © MarÃÆ'a OlazÃÆ'ábal. Gardino was also caddied for ÃÆ' ngel Cabrera in the 2005 Presidential Cup and US Open in 2007
During the show, a new behind-the-scenes show called The Big Break IV: All Access debuted and aired on "Top Shelf Wednesday," a weekly primetime program block hosted by Cellini. Big Break III alumnus Ochoa works as a reporter for the All Access event.
The promotional ad that led to the show's premiere was set for Bon Jovi's 1987 hit "Livin 'On a Prayer."
The Big Break V: Hawaii

Cellini and Sparks return for their third duty as hosts. All Access also returned, with Wilde as the reporter this time.
This Big Break contains the biggest gift package on the show: a single LPGA exclusion will be the 2006 Safeway Classic. Other prizes are Bridgestone Golf equipment contracts, $ 10,000 reward packages from Golfsmith, and 2006 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster. Winners also got the development package before starting their LPGA, something that the viewer has been advocating for quite a while now. This package contains exceptions to all remaining Tour Futures 2006 events, golf instruction from Dean Reinmuth, fitness training from former Roberts host, and mental coaching from Dr. Dean Reinmuth. Gio Valiante.
11 golfers arrive in Aloha State, but a person must be discharged before he can even open his bag. 11 golfers are:
In the final final game, which aired on May 9, Prange defeated Cho 5 & amp; 4 in the final win of the show's most live match to date.
Since Big Break V, Prange has won twice on Futures Tour (The Greater Tampa Futures Golf Classic and Horseshoe Casino Futures Golf Classic) and has three other top ten.
The Big Bang: Trump National
The sixth edition of The Big Break was recorded in late June and early July 2006 at Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles. Dominican Republic Big Break
This season, which debuted on September 28, 2010, saw some significant formatting changes. For one thing, it becomes a pure team competition. The goal of the season is to be the first team to remove all the other team members in a double elimination format. A contestant loses the individual challenge at the end of the show is "benched" for the next program. The second loss by "pending" contestants is elimination. Individual prizes - cash, shopping sprees and tour exclusions - are awarded through the points system. Contestants on the winning team with the most points will be declared the "most valuable player" and will receive the prize.
The team, both of which are contestants of Big Break, are divided into men (blue shirts) and women (red shirts). If a male player is a MVP, he will win an exception for PGA Tour Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open in Las Vegas. If MVP is female, she will win exceptions for Kia Classic LPGA Tour in Industry, California. Blair O'Neal is the winner.
This event was recorded at the Dog Dental Field at Casa de Campo Resort. This course was designed by Pete Dye.
Tensions are rising high this season due to the format of "sex battles". There's more cheering, pumping hands, and swearing from the players than in the regular season. Also the players who are eliminated remain on the bench all season to rooted in their teammates. After the women's team lined up 4 people in a row, Elena said in confession, "I think the men's team is more concerned with the fact that Americans will laugh at them for getting their ass kicked off by a bunch of sexy girls".
Before the finale, David, Brenda, Elena, and Sara received 2 attacks and were eliminated from the competition. This left 5 men and 3 women. Sara was then chosen to return to the competition after the women opened fire from outside the green. Since Blair never gets attacked, he receives 10 MVP points and jumps to the top of the standings.
At the end of the story, Andrew, Anthony, Blake, Brian, and William compete for men. Blair, Christina, Sara, and Lori competed for women.
The men won the team's challenge and had to choose match-ups and holes for the elimination match.
In the 1st half, Blair defeats William, Blake defeats Lori, Sara beats Brian, and Christina defeats Andrew.
In the 2nd round Blair defeats Anthony and Christina defeats Blake.
Sara, Christina, and Blair survived and the women won 3 players to 0. All 3 women made birdies in the elimination hole. Blair added 10 MVP points for 2 wins and finished with 57 MVP points in first place (12 points ahead of second).
The Dominican Republic's Big Break winner is Blair O'Neal and he won $ 50,000 and other prizes included an LPGA exclusion while the rest of his team split $ 50,000 again. Anthony is a male MVP and wins the PGA exception.
