History
The Maybelline Company was created by a 19-year-old businessman named Thomas Lyle Williams in 1915. Williams noticed his older sister, Mabel, applying a mixture of Vaseline and coal dust to her eyelashes to give them a darker and fuller look. He adjusts it to a chemical set and produces locally sold products called Lash-Brow-Ine. Williams changed the name of Maybelline's admirer's eye to honor the sister who gave her the idea. In 1917 the company produced Maybelline Cake Mascara, "the first modern eye cosmetics for everyday use" and Ultra Lash in the 1960s, which was the first automated mass market.
In 1967, the company was sold by Williams to Plow, Inc. (now Schering-Plow) in Memphis, Tennessee. All cosmetic production facilities were moved from Chicago to Memphis for one weekend. In 1975, the company moved its plant to Little Rock, Arkansas, where it remained. In 1990, Schering-Plow sold Maybelline to a New York investment firm, Wasserstein Perella & amp; Co Maybelline Operational Headquarters remained in Memphis until it was sold in 1996, when its headquarters moved to New York City. The makeup factory moved to Brooklyn in 2000.
Maybelline received encouragement when the company hired Lynda Carter as the company's beauty co-ordinator after her television series ended; he also appeared in several television and print ads. Josie Maran, Miranda Kerr, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Melina Kanakaredes, Zhang Ziyi, Siti Nurhaliza, Fasha Sandha, Sheetal Mallar, Julia Stegner, Jessica White and Kristin Davis have endorsed Maybelline products. The current face of Maybelline is Adriana Lima, Christy Turlington, Kemp Muhl, Emily DiDonato, Beatriz Shantal, Jourdan Dunn, Gigi Hadid. and Liza Soberano. In 1991, the company adopted its advertising slogan "(Maybe he was born with it.) Maybe Maybelline." which is still in use today. The company was acquired by L'Orà © al in 1996. Getting Maybelline gives L'OrÃÆ' à © al access to the mass market in cosmetics.

Criticism
There is reasonable evidence that claims that Maybelline products are tested on animals are not entirely unfounded. During 1989 L'Oreal stopped testing the finished product before it was launched in the market and committed to developing alternative methods. Although according to the 2010 report, it is required by law in some countries to continue animal testing. The Company has made a commitment to "work with the authorities in these countries and share knowledge of alternative testing methods". According to their website, L'OrÃÆ'à © al no longer officially tests on animals of its products or ingredients, anywhere in the world. L'OrÃÆ'à © al also does not delegate this task to anyone else. Exceptions can only be made if the authorities demand them for security or regulatory purposes.
