Kennedy Catholic was founded in 1966 and is one of three diocesan schools operated in the Roman Catholic archdiocese of Seattle. Kennedy Catholic was known as John F. Kennedy Memorial High School, but renamed the beginning of the academic year 2009/2010 to reflect his Catholic roots.

Program
While at school, students have the opportunity to earn up to 65 college credits, and can also be part of the Honors Program which includes studies in Religion, Art, English, World Language, Mathematics, Social Science and Science. All of these programs are coordinated through the Aquinas Department of Honor at Kennedy Catholic.

International program
Provides academic year for foreign students who wish to study in the United States. Students learn the language and culture of the US and have the opportunity to be participants in schools and communities. All international students who attend Kennedy High School must either live in a dormitory or with a guardian or foster family. No student, regardless of age, can live alone.
There are currently 85 students from 11 different countries attending Kennedy.
Ministries
KOOCS (Kids Offer Care and Support of Others) - Cook breakfast and visit with homeless two Saturdays every month.
St. Vincent de Paul Society - Coordinate JFK Advent Food Drive and the Lenten Rice Bowl collection, sponsor projects for the poor with other Catholic high schools, and support the adopted Mission Church of La Guardia.
Hunger Retreat - Fast learner every year from 24 hours of solid food, get an appointment for missed food, and contribute the proceeds to eight South King County groups that help hunger and homeless.
Coordinator of Human Relations - Representatives of each assembly and class plan program for further understanding among the various cultures present at JFK. Senior leaders work with the Ministry of Campus Office in conflict resolution if necessary.
Relay For Life - Established in the fall of 2004, the Relay For Life team at Kennedy is involved in the American American Society Relay for Life in the spring of each school year. Usually participating in Green Lake Relay For Life in Seattle, the team is raising money for cancer research throughout the year, selling t-shirts, baking and washing cars. They then present money to the community on Relays, an overnight event that happens every year. The team is usually led by a senior and involves 20-40 members every year.
Athletics
Kennedy Catholic is part of the Northern Puget League Cascade Division Votes in District 3 of WIAA (Central West) and has won 14 Country Title and over 145 League Titles. Kennedy Lancers football team has produced several NCAA Division I Prospects in recent years including University of Washington players, Nate Williams and Everrette Thompson. Their soccer team also has a former Washington University kick refuse, Paul Arnold as a student.
