Five Islands Islands is a village located on the northwest coast of the island of Antigua, in Saint John Parish in Antigua and Barbuda.

Geography

The village is on the peninsula, and is named five adjacent rock islands at Five Island Harbor.

It is about 3 miles (4.8 km) southwest of the capital of the state of St John, and connected by one street.

The village is surrounded by 12 of 365 beaches on the island of Antigua.

The highest point in the village is Mount Barrington, the location of Fort Barrington. The fort was named after Admiral Barrington, who captured the Caribbean island of St. Lucia of France in 1667. The fort was built during the British colonial period of Antigua and Barbuda, mainly as a reconnaissance for foreign warships in the area.

There is one primary school, Elementary School of Five Islands, in the village. Universities are in the process of development.

Demographics

Five islands have a population of about 500 people.

People are recorded for farming and fishing them. In this small-knit community the people are very friendly.

The village is famous for its sportsmen, including Richie Richardson, cricket coach and West Indies coach.

This village has one of the oldest hotels on the island.
